Well, New York State Sales Tax was active in Closing several High Profile Culb/Restaurants in Armory Square this week..The Tax department siezed Ambrosia for a due of $17,000.This is a small amount for a restaurant ,usually, and makes you wonder why a payment plan was not able to be negotiated…especially since the busy College season is about to start…or is business truly that bad?
Then “Ohm” nightclub was siezed in quick sucession..the tax bill is not known..Ohm was also hosting lastlaffcomedyclub.com . Last night I observed many perplexed 20 somethings “forced” to visit Pastabilities directly across the street from the OHM nightclub.
Perhaps there were too many clubs.
Economics at work ?… the stronger profit from the failure of the weak ?
Still ;…one wonders if videos such as this :
and the “Club Obcityan” downtown party replete with red carpet and VIP area -at -the -parking garage are relics of a pre-ression era…a bygone era ..[ last week ? ]
when “hot club chicks” and James Bondian metrosexuals shopped -dinned -and caroused in A.S. !
where will you show off your mall ..sorry, Armory Square …clothes now?.
…with the “destination clubs” closed..
even Subway closes at 9 …very downtown lol
Overdressed for the College Pub no?
Two clothing shops closed this month in Armory Square as well
Stay tuned….
Is Ohm in a state of perpetual meditation?
and is Armory square to continue it’s morphing into Marshall Street?
I hope that these owners are able to negotiate with the notoriously difficult NYS sales tax dept. and reopen.
