Of course the local media such as the Syracuse Post Standard and the Syracuse New Times conducts a deliberate news blackout of events that they do not receive ad money from. What this means is you never find out about shows in Buffalo Rochester Albany and Scranton as well as right here in Syracuse.This weekend features easily the biggest rock concert of the Summer ;but there is no mention of the Saturday K Rockathon in the Syracuse New Times.Guess they don’t buy ads there.So by accident recently I cam across the schedule of free shows in Buffalo that go on every Tues and some other days;that are sponsored by a local Buffalo Bank.We don’t have many business of the size to sponsor such free shows so you have to make a road trip.Anyway tonite Lynard Skynard is Playing a free show at Lewiston Art Park,a beautiful riverside venue,this evening.There are many other high quality shows such as Cheap Trick,Gregg Allman and ZZtop running thru September.Here is Details

With the Demise of Wed on the Waterfront and the Islandfest at Papermill Island in B ville,It was nice to see a good but not tremendous crowd at this fine free show at the Chevy Court at the NY State Fair.

This was a free concert last Sunday featuring Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes Max Weinburg 7 and CoCo Montoya

Today will feature another good show at the “Taste of Syracuse” with Greg Allman ,on the road again after his Liver Transplant.This Show will be Mobbed and is in a constricted area in downtown Syracuse across from the Federal Building.Plan on getting there early to stake out a viewing location.
